MALAYSIA: Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX) will be holding its inaugural renewable energy certificates (RECs) auction on the 25th June 2024, the Shariah compliant exchange announced.
For the auction, Sarawak Energy will supply the RECs from its Murum hydropower plant, as part of the company’s collaboration agreement with Bursa Malaysia, Hydropower Sustainability Alliance and the I-REC Standard Foundation signed in December 2023. The RECs will be issued under the I-REC Standard, an internationally-used standard to certify the renewable origin of electricity.
