MALAYSIA: Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP), Malaysia’s largest public sector pension fund, has appointed Climate Fund Managers (CFM) and Malaysian investment manager Argos Partners to establish and manage the Shariah compliant Malaysia Climate Infrastructure Fund (MCIF).
Launching with RM500 million (US$117.76 million) commitment from KWAP, this diversified infrastructure private equity vehicle aims to accelerate vital climate infrastructure in Malaysia and emerging markets across Asia and Latin America, driving decarbonization, social and economic growth. Key sectors include renewable energy, transportation, digital infrastructure, water and wastewater.
MCIF is part of the RM6 billion (US$1.41 billion) Dana Pemacu initiative launched in May 2024 to help strengthen Malaysia’s private market ecosystem.
