The revolutionary 12th Century Muslim Cartographer and Geographer, Muhammad Al-Idrisi , is best known for his ground breaking works in the creation of the Tabula Rogeriana the world’s first recorded atlas coined by experts as one of the most advanced medieval world maps to exist in the recent human history.

As an avid maritime explorer, he made keen observations and kept meticulous records of his geographic findings. These eventually became the foundations of his masterpiece which included text illustrations besides a total collection of 70 maps, of the world up north the equator. Al Idrisi’s work was translated into Latin and continues to be studied globally.
