Malaysia’s Gamuda Land developing own UK student residences

GLOBAL: Gamuda Land acquired a plot at 14 Marshgate Lane in Stratford, East London, which it will develop into its first UK fully self-developed and managed new 321-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA). Located within walking distance of UCL East and the London College of Fashion and connected via Pudding Mill Lane DLR station, this RM600 million (US$142.21 million) project completion is targeted for late 2028. Funding details were not disclosed, though Gamuda Land typically taps the Islamic finance market for its projects. With Marshgate, Gamuda Land now has a PBSA portfolio of 1,232 beds across London and Glasgow – with a plan to deliver up to 3,000 student beds across UK cities in the next five years.
