UAE: Abu Dhabi Future Energy (Masdar) and Emirates Water and Electricity Company are jointly developing the world’s largest renewable energy project integrating solar power and battery storage, capable of delivering 1GW of baseload renewable energy around the clock. This project integrates a 5.2GW solar photovoltaic plant with a 19GWh battery energy storage system in a development investment of over AED22 billion (US$5.99 billion) – with some funding coming from Sukuk issuances.
