INDONESIA: The Education Fund Management Board, or Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP), and the Muhammadiyah Higher Education Council are contributing IDR10 billion (US$607,575) each into a pooled research endowment fund – which will be managed by the latter’s parent body. The fund assets will be placed in Shariah investment instruments for sustainable income that can be channeled to support priority research in food, energy, digital technology and Internet of things, social humanities and creative economy plus disaster management and health matters. The LPDP also collaborated with the Gates Foundation's philanthropy in food funding.
