PAKISTAN: President Asif Ali Zardari recently implemented the Virtual Assets Ordinance 2025 on 9th July 2025, establishing the Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority as an autonomous federal body to regulate cryptocurrencies and virtual assets, reported Dawn. The 120-day ordinance, issued under Article 89 of the Constitution, mandates licensing of all virtual asset service providers and includes a regulatory sandbox and appellate tribunal. The law also mandates a Shariah advisory committee to provide guidance on Islamic finance compliance for crypto products.
