Saudi banks continue alternative funding reliance

SAUDI ARABIA: Saudi banks are expected to continue relying on alternative funding sources as strong non-oil economic activity drives credit demand, Moody’s Ratings said in a recent commentary. According to the rating agency, local banks are unable to finance all national megaprojects only through domestic liquidity while also meeting wider credit needs. Moody’s noted that diversifying funding sources will require prudent risk management.
