PAKISTAN: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has clarified that its 2018 directive for banks and financial institutions to avoid dealing in virtual assets was due to the absence of a legal framework, not because such assets were declared illegal. The SBP and the finance division are now working with the Pakistan Crypto Council to draft appropriate regulations ensuring consumer and investor protection.
