MALAYSIA: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) is collaborating with Khazanah Nasional to introduce the tokenization of bonds and Sukuk this year to broaden retail participation in the country’s capital market, The Edge reported, quoting Mohammad Faiz Azmi, the executive chairman of SC.
The initiative will allow SC and Khazanah to assess key functionalities such as smart contracts and custodial arrangements while evaluating the benefits and risks of blockchain-based securities, the executive chairman said.
