SRI LANKA: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) has expressed its condolences on the passing of Deshamanya Ken Balendra, a former chairman of the SEC.
Deshamanya, who served as chairman from August 2000 to December 2001, contributed to the development of Sri Lanka’s capital market by helping create an environment that balanced regulation with flexibility and innovation. Key initiatives during his tenure included reducing the cost of listing on the Colombo Stock Exchange and introducing debt instruments.
