Company Profile

The Malaysia International Islamic Finance Centre (MIFC) is a strategic initiative by the Malaysian government aimed at positioning Malaysia as a leading global hub for Islamic finance. Launched in 2006, MIFC serves as a platform that brings together regulators, financial institutions, market players, and service providers to advance the development of a robust Islamic finance ecosystem. It is spearheaded by Bank Negara Malaysia (the central bank) and supported by key government agencies and industry players to ensure the growth and sustainability of Shariah-compliant financial markets.

MIFC plays a pivotal role in promoting Malaysia’s comprehensive Islamic finance capabilities, which span across Islamic banking, Takaful (Islamic insurance), Islamic capital markets, and wealth management. Through a well-regulated and progressive financial infrastructure, MIFC facilitates local and international institutions in offering Islamic financial services, supported by a mature legal and regulatory framework. Malaysia’s leadership in issuing Sukuk (Islamic bonds) and its active role in setting global Shariah standards further strengthen MIFC’s reputation as a centre of excellence in Islamic finance.

In addition to fostering financial innovation, MIFC emphasizes talent development and knowledge-sharing. It collaborates with academic institutions, research bodies, and industry practitioners to build a deep talent pool and promote thought leadership in Islamic finance. Initiatives such as training programs, forums, and partnerships with global organizations reflect MIFC’s commitment to advancing Islamic finance on both regional and international fronts.

With its holistic and inclusive approach, MIFC continues to attract interest and participation from global stakeholders seeking ethical and Shariah-compliant investment opportunities. As the Islamic finance industry evolves, MIFC remains a cornerstone of Malaysia’s economic strategy, reinforcing the country’s role as a gateway to Islamic financial markets and a key contributor to the global halal economy.
