Shariah compliant platform opens door to fractional ownership of real estate in US

US: Wahed, a US-headquartered Islamic fintech company offering investment solutions globally, has entered the fractional real estate ownership market with the launch of its Shariah compliant private real estate investment platform.

The new platform provides US investors the opportunity to invest in residential real estate with as little as US$100, addressing one of the key barriers to entry in the asset class: high upfront capital requirements. Investors can purchase fractional shares in vetted residential properties and earn quarterly rental income, alongside potential capital appreciation. All aspects of property management – from tenant relations to regulatory compliance – are handled by Wahed’s in-house team.

The launch responds to a growing demand among Muslim and value-driven investors for accessible property investment opportunities in the US, where options have historically been limited due to restrictions on interest-based financing. Wahed previously introduced the model in the UK, where it reported strong uptake.

“Private real estate is highly desirable among investors, yet Shariah compliant platforms remain scarce in the US,” said Mohsin Siddiqui, CEO of Wahed. “Our real estate investment solution addresses the longstanding challenges of high capital requirements and complex property management, allowing everyday investors the peace of mind and simplicity of true passive income.”

Founded in 2015, Wahed has grown to serve clients across 130 countries, managing over US$1 billion in assets. Its offerings include equity portfolios and venture capital products and it operates out of offices in New York, London, Abu Dhabi, India and Kuala Lumpur.

Fractional ownership real estate platforms are increasingly common across global Islamic finance markets. US-based Vairt offers a similar model focusing on Halal property investments, while Stake, which operates in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, gives investors access to Shariah compliant properties from as little as SAR500 (US$133.33). In Southeast Asia, Ethis has developed tokenized real estate structures tailored for Muslim investors, also extending into Waqf and Zakat fund management. In the UK, Acorn Property Invest provides fractional access to Shariah compliant real estate portfolios.
