US: Launched on the 5th November 2025, the KraneShares Wahed Alternative Income Index ETF (KWIN) is unlike conventional income funds that rely heavily on interest-bearing fixed-income securities – aiming instead to generate returns through Shariah compliant forward sale agreements.
Jointly developed by Wahed Invest, a global leader in Shariah compliant digital investing, and Krane Funds Advisors (KraneShares), a specialist in innovative, research-driven ETFs, KWIN will take long equity positions while simultaneously selling a call and buying a put for each long position.
The option strategy is designed to provide a delta-neutral outcome – with option income generated through the difference between the amount received for the call option and the price paid for the put option. KWIN reinvests this option income back into the fund, which may reduce the frequency of taxable distributions.
