MALAYSIA: Over US$50 million is anticipated to be pumped into Malaysian start-ups when UK-based Wahed Ventures launches its platform in Kuala Lumpur soon. Founder and Executive Chairman Junaid Wahedna said this crowdfunding launch is expected in May 2024 upon receiving the Securities Commission of Malaysia’s approval. He said Malaysian start-ups will be screened to be Shariah compliant and having a viable business model before being allowed onto this crowdfunding platform, while the funders will be attracted from a global audience via the Wahed Ventures app.
