BSEC names new chairman

BANGLADESH: The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) announced the departure of Khondoker Rashed Maqsood as its chairman for the last 21 months, who cited focusing on personal endeavors as the reason for his resignation from the public position.

The finance ministry’s financial institutions division subsequently announced the appointment of Masud Khan, the group CEO of Crown Cement and chairman of Unilever Consumer Care, as the BSEC’s new chairman for a four-year term, local news outlets reported.

The ministry also appointed Nahid Mahtab, a former deputy attorney general; Tanwir Habib Rahman, the finance director of Asa International; and Md Nafeez Al Tarik, the managing director of Dhaka Bank Securities, as commissioners for the same term, hours after the previous commissioners resigned.
