EGYPT: EFG Hermes’ private equity arm launched a US$300 million Saudi Education Fund to build an institutional K-12 operator in Saudi Arabia, having partnered with GFH to acquire a portfolio of international schools owned by private equity funds under the brand name Britus Education. This portfolio includes four schools in Saudi Arabia, two in the UAE and one in Bahrain. Boasting a total capacity of approximately 12,000 students, nearly 8,000 students are currently enrolled. This fund is in addition to the US$150 million fund launched in December 2018 to invest in Egypt’s K-12 education sector, in partnership with GEMS Education.
