The Hong Leong Dana Dividen, launched on the 11th November 2024 is a Shariah compliant equity income and growth fund that will invest a minimum 80% of its net asset value in Shariah compliant equities and equity-related securities.
The balance will be invested in Sukuk and related liquid assets including Islamic money market instruments and Islamic deposits with Malaysian financial institutions. The fund may also invest in Islamic collective investment schemes and specifically excludes digital assets.
While the fund’s base currency is the ringgit, the investments portfolio is not limited to within Malaysia – with up to 30% invested in foreign markets. A cap of 10% applies for a single issuer’s instruments and a maximum 15% limit on untraded Shariah assets.
Financial OTC Islamic derivatives may be employed for hedging purposes, using instruments like forward contracts, profit rate swaps and cross currency swaps.
Offered by Hong Leong Asset Management, the subscription entry is RM1,000 (US$223.70), with subsequent investments in multiples of RM100 (US$22.40). Complimentary Takaful policies may be offered to retail investors, no extra fund-specific incentives are offered to institutional clients.
Aimed at investors seeking investments with potential for medium to long-termcapital appreciation, over a three- to five-year timeframe, this fund is classified as high risk and benchmarked against the FTSE Bursa Malaysia EMAS Shariah Index.
This fund is designed for those who value a regular income stream and the subscriber can opt for the twice-yearly distributions to be in the form of cash payouts or automatic reinvestment into new fund units. A minimum 1,000 units holding rule applies.
