MALAYSIA: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) is set to introduce a social exchange focusing on social welfare and Waqf initiatives. The launch is expected to start with registrations opening in Q1 2025, SC Chairman Dr Awang Adek Hussin said at the Global Forum on Islamic Economics and Finance 2024. This initiative provides a platform for social enterprises and non-profit organizations to raise funds at zero coupon and zero capital repayments for projects benefiting the underprivileged. The SC is drafting regulations to ensure funds raised in the social exchange will be used properly for their intended purposes.
